For years, an individual has been visiting institutions, municipalities, and media outlets, proposing various projects worth billions of euros. He meets with ministers, mayors, and regional governors. His name is Eng. Rumen Markov, and he is the owner of the company "Large Infrastructures Projects" Ltd.
The projects proposed by Eng. Markov are completely impossible to implement, yet high-ranking politicians, institutions, and media often take them seriously.
What are the projects of "Large Infrastructures Projects"?
Project: Kremikovci 2
On February 21, 2016, in an interview with a reputable newspaper, Eng. Rumen Markov stated that within a few years, on the southern slopes of the Stara Planina mountain, in the town of Nikolaev in the Stara Zagora region, a huge state-of-the-art metallurgical plant for ore enrichment, iron smelting, and steel production will be built.
According to Markov, the investment will be 3.1 billion euros. The project will be implemented by "Large Infrastructures Projects". This information, titled "Moving Kremikovci near the town of Nikolaev," was spread through the media. On this topic, Bulgarian National Radio contacted the then-mayor of Nikolaev, Kosyo Kosev, who stated that there was no official information about such a project. He had heard of similar intentions but knew nothing specific.
The scale of the project is intriguing. According to Eng. Rumen Markov from "Large Infrastructures Projects," it will be larger than Kremikovci - with a capacity of 200 million tons per year. The ore that the Kremikovci 2 plant will process would be mined by reopening the mines in Kremikovci, which are only 15 km from the center of Sofia.
According to Rumen Markov, 8.5 million tons will be mined annually in Kremikovci for 30 years - over 250 million tons. For comparison, throughout its existence, the Kremikovci Metallurgical Plant processed 60 million tons of ore - about 3 million tons per year. In other words, Kremikovci 2 near Nikolaev will be three times larger.
